Well it is that time of year again when we listen for the thunder in the Smokies, brought to us by over 3500 motorcyclists that arrive in the tiny Smoky Mountain town of Maggie Valley. Twice a year spring and fall, for the past seven years this wonderful rally makes its way through the mountains and they are awakened with the roar of the bikers. Thunder in the Smokies takes place at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds and features beer, bands a bike show, and more. Scheduled acts for 2009 include South Dakota rocker Jasmine Cain and bands Warhorse and Scotty Box. Friday night at dusk a drive-in motorcycle movie will be shown. Saturday morning a guided ride up to Waterrock Knob on the Blue Ridge Parkway will be offered.
Andon-Reid Inn is less than 10 minutes from Maggie Valley and we are proud to say that we are biker friendly and garage the bikes for their owners so they needn't worry about their well being.
We always have our regulars come back plus a few newbies. They walk through our door and say "what are you making for dessert tomorrow morning? We're going to need the fuel." Our bikers know the ropes.
