Every year Spring arrives and I am loving the warmer weather and all the new growth and smells that this season provides for us. Then it snows. It always seems to be right around the Easter holiday. Sorry, I still can't get use to it. It's not suppose to snow anymore! The good news is that it is short lived. I then started thinking about our quaint town of Waynesville and how beautiful it is when it does snow. The shops are mostly unique to our town and one of my favorites is The Mast General Store. The Mast General Store was built in 1882 by Henry Taylor and opened in 1883 in Valle Cruscis, North Carolina. There are 9 of them now in the area. The best part for me is walking downstairs where all the candy bins are and hearing the creaky floors above you. They recently renovated the store and I checked to make sure that they didn't fix the floors. They didn't! The walk into town from the Andon-Reid Inn is less than a mile and well worth it. Walking through the store is like going back in time and it's a great place to explore.
