Weddings, we love them at Andon-Reid Inn. It is the beginning of two people joining their lives together forever and we're a part of that. Our bed and breakfast is small, so we only host weddings that are 25 guests or under. That makes for a very intimate and personalized event. The bride and groom experience all the details in putting their wedding together with our help. In May of this past year, we were fortunate to host the beautiful wedding of Lisa and Bill Niblo. One of the fond memories I have of the wedding is Lisa's daughter McKenna. What a beautiful child. Lisa and Bill involved her in every way with the wedding plans. Bill actually said vows to McKenna. It was so tender of a moment. They were insistent on having the wedding outdoors without a tent. Of course our biggest nightmare is the wea
ther. After all, this is a milestone in their lives and a day they will remember forever.Well, it rained all day, on the day of the wedding and about 1 hour before they were to take their vows it stopped. The sun came out and the yard was filled with excitement. The ceremony took place, photographs were taken then everyone headed in to our Garden Room for the reception. Lisa and Bill chose to have BBQ for dinner and boy did we put on a spread. For dessert Lisa wanted a cupcake cake, it was grand. You don't forget weddings and this one will forever be engraved in our memory. Lisa, Bill and McKenna have a wonderful life together.

This weekend Josh, our youngest, and fiancee Ashley are visiting with us. Ron and I are so excited about seeing them both. It's extra special because it's Father's Day weekend. They are both seniors at University of South Florida in Tampa. Go Bulls! As our kids grow up in different areas of the country we don't get to see them as often as we would like to. So every visit means that much more and we try to fit so much into three days. Andon-Reid Inn has a busy weekend with Dads and a great getaway! This trip to the mountains includes a bucket filled with a six-pack of his favorite beer, $10 gift certificate to "Good Ole Days Cigars", beer nuts, pretzels, a sleeve of golf balls and tees. Choose to play a round of golf or tour the Heinzelmannchen Brewery and sample their beers.

Hi There! This is Patti Becker, guest blogger for Rachel. I just completed two personal training sessions and one therapeutic massage at Andon-Reid Inn, the highest quality bed & breakfast in Western North Carolina. I (actually, Rachel and I) decided I should leave my safe haven in Boca Raton, FL, and experience beautiful Waynesville, NC, for the summer months. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist in Florida and North Carolina, a Certified Personal Trainer, and a Wellness Coach. Between the three professions, chances were good that I would be able to find seasonal professional opportunities. Of course, promises from Rachel and Ron that I would receive all of their massage requests helped to 'ink' the deal. And they have lived up to that promise!
I arrived Sunday night, crashed on their very comfortable sofa, and gave my first massage on Monday afternoon. Monday I was able to meet my summer landlord and unpack my car. How on earth did I fit everything into my car?? A daunting task of unloading loomed before me until I looked at the view from my patio. Lush green landscaping with wild flowers and a lake. Above that, the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains smiled upon me. I immediately felt welcome and at home. That is the personality of Waynesville. Everywhere I go: the Post Office, Walmart, quaint shops, and of course, the Andon-Reid Inn. Ron and Rachel welcome all their guests and want them to feel at home. Reading the cards they have received as well as the individual comment books in each room, the common thread is how at home each guest has felt because of the hospitality at the Andon-Reid Inn. Did I mention the breakfast's? Hmmm, well, let's just say you probably will not need lunch. I have been enjoying Rachel's cooking and baking for 15 years. And now she is sharing her expertise with so many more! Ron, of course, just loves to work around the house and in the yard. Right now, I enjoy the smell of freshly cut grass and oh, oh, a spring shower dampens the lawn mowing to be done another day. Not to worry, Ron has projects inside that will keep him busy.
As I continue to explore my new surroundings, I look forward to developing friendships and professional affiliations. My plan is simple: to return to Waynesville, NC, every summer to work and enjoy the easy-going pace, beautiful mountain views, friendly townspeople, and make a home away from home. I encourage you to visit Waynesville and the Andon-Reid Inn for an experience of comfort, serenity, and relaxation.

The wonderful thing about Western North Carolina is that you are never without something to do. There are so many hikes to take in the area, we really don't know where to start. Recently, we had some guests who were going to hike Hemphill Bald Loop. This is a hike I've been wanting to do. It's a strenuous 13.7 miles round trip and takes about 7-8 hours to complete it. They insisted that we hike with them, how could we not fulfill a request from one of our guests? We were definitely going to need some fuel for this hike, so I immediately went into the kitchen and prepared a picnic lunch for 4. As soon as breakfast was over we put on our hiking gear, packed up our picnic and grabbed our backpacks. Off we went to start our adventure at Polls Gap, off the Blue Ridge Parkway, about 40 minutes from Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast. The hike was amazing and the climb went from 3370 feet to
5540 feet, a bit of a climb. What a view. There is a great lunch spot in a grassy area with a stone table and stone benches. We could clearly see Mt. Pisgah and Cold Mountain from that area. The mountain laurels and rhodendrons were in full bloom all the way up, the trees were huge and then... you walk into a meadow like setting and feel like you are on top of the world...because you are!

The wonderful thing about Waynesville, North Carolina are all of the enjoyable things there are to do in the area.We are a quaint town nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains and known for our art studios and galleries. Every year, on the third weekend in June, all the artists get together and host the Annual Gallery Tour. The Gallery Association is the proud sponsor with assistance from the Downtown Waynesville Association and Haywood County TDA.This year they are bumping it up a notch and inviting all the other businesses in Waynesville to celebrate the art community together.
Ron and I were trying to come up with a different twist to be able to participate in this fun event. So at Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast we decided to do an herbed themed breakfast. What fun! After all, in my eyes, my herb garden is an expression of my canvas. During the weekend of June 19 - June 21 this event is sure to be a whole lot of fun with a kickoff in all participating downtown stores of a reception and artists preview. Our guests will be walking away with full bellies, inspiration, recipes and potted herbs. Go ahead and stroll downtown Waynesville and "encounter" something artistic because the stores will be filled with story tellers, local authors at book signings, woodcarvers, jewelers and all of our artists at work doing what they do best, imaginative expression. For more information , contact Ron or Rachel at 800-293-6190 and stay with us for a refreshing weekend or the Waynesville Gallery Association at 828-452-9284.Rachel Reid, Very Happy Innkeeper
