Blue Ridge Breakaway, Cyclists Ride the Mountains of Western North Carolina

 The Blue Ridge Breakaway is a first year cycling event happening in Haywood County, home of Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast in Waynesville, North Carolina. This will be an annual event supporting the initiatives of Haywood County Chamber of Commerce.
The Blue Ridge Breakaway will be held on August 21, 2010 with staggered times beginning at 7am. This long distance ride will feature four different courses a cyclist can take. It will attract beginner cyclists to avid riders.There will be the Hawk @105 miles with elevation from 2310-6129 ft., Trout @66 miles with elevation from 2431-3153 ft., Panther @40 miles with elevation of 2306-3264 ft. and Rabbit @24 miles with elevation from 2431-2858 ft. All the rides will begin at Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center.
 This year we are expecting between 200-400 participants. It's a great time of year for everyone to come out and cycle the Blue Ridge Parkway. Cycling will be another outdoor sport that will attract a different type of person to our area. The scenic beauty will be showcased throughout the ride.
