Fourth Of July 2010-Celebrate in Waynesville, North Carolina

I cannot believe that it is July 4th weekend already! I feel that it was just yesterday when we had single digit numbers showing on the outdoor thermometer for endless weeks.

Here at Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast we are ready for the holiday. We have the decorations out, wonderful breakfast planned out, fireworks and more. On Friday, July 2nd, Art After Dark will be held from 6PM-9PM with all the art studios and galleries open for demonstrations and receptions. On Saturday, July 3rd our wonderful town of Waynesville will be hosting a Stars and Stripes Celebration from 11AM-3PM on Main Street with sidewalk sales, music and entertainment. For the grand finale on July 4th,our guests will have a choice of watching the fireworks at Lake Junaluska or at the Maggie Valley Festival Grounds for their Red, White & Boom celebration. You can even watch from our bed and breakfast while you're trying to catch the fireflies.

We have one room left for some lucky couple to enjoy all these festivities. Give us a call or reserve online. You'll be glad you did!

Wine In North Carolina At Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast

Our Waynesville, North Carolina bed and breakfast is entering into our 2nd year of providing a unique wine list for all of our guests. There are so many great wines out there, we've decided to change our choices yearly. It's always fun to try new wines and learn about the different grapes. We have a wonderful wine distributor that really takes her time to educate us about all there is to choose from. Ron and I are excited about the different offerings we have for this season. Here are a couple that will certainly peak your interest!

Bad Dog Ranch Vineyards is out of Sonoma, California and home of Bad Dog himself. This vineyard is known for their varietal wines blended for easy to taste finishes. As the story goes it turns out Bad Dog has an uncanny nose for grapes. Like clockwork, when he starts eating the fruit off the vines, they know it’s time to harvest. They love that, because their varietal grapes have to be picked at the peak of ripeness for the big, bold flavor. We'll be carrying the Pinot Noir which has hints of raspberry, vanilla, cherry and plum with a soft velvety finish.

Another varietal we will be carrying is an organic Zinfandel by the Powder Keg Vineyards out of Lodi, California. This zinfandel boasts a vibrant berry aroma that leads to mouth-filling ripe raspberry, blackberry, and black pepper.  Clove, and  a hint of tobacco, leather and lush red fruit round out the long finish.

These are just a few of the new wines that will be debuting at Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast. We love the feed back that we receive from our guests about the convenience of having this amenity available for them. Come stay with us and try these new selections.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band Coming To Asheville, NC

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band is one of my all time favorite bands will be in Asheville on Friday, June 4 at Diana at the Biltmore Estate. This venue for this concert is set on a high hill with sweeping views of Biltmore House framed by the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band formed in Southern California during the spring of 1966 as a scruffy, young jug-band.  Forty-two years later, the quartet (Jeff Hanna, Jimmie Fadden, Bob Carpenter and John McEuen) is still going strong.John McEuen, founding member of this band is known for his diverse skills on banjo, fiddle, guitar and mandolin. He is my favorite. These pioneers of country rock are still influencing musicians today with their multiple Grammy Award–winning songs including the landmark "Will the Circle Be Unbroken".

You can visit the Biltmore and go to the concert for a great price of $88/person. If you only want to see the concert, the cost is $58/person.

Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast is only 30 minutes away from this live concert and we have one room left for the weekend. Enjoy the music from this great band then come back to the Inn for some rest and relaxation.
