Summer Desserts at Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast

It's almost Labor Day weekend and I'm still making all these fun summer desserts  at our Waynesville, NC bed and breakfast. There are plenty of raspberries, plums, peaches, blueberries, strawberries and more out there to choose from. You can make the following dessert with any of the summer fruits I mentioned...I chose strawberries this past week. Check out this bed and breakfast recipe:

 Strawberry Cheesecake Shooters

12 ounces cream cheese, (1 ½ 8 ounce packages)
2 eggs, beaten
1/3 granulated sugar
2 T. sour cream
½ teas. Vanilla extract

1 cup graham cracker crumbs
4 T. butter, melted

½ cup frozen sliced strawberries in syrup, thawed
Whipped cream

1.    Make cheesecake filling by blending cream cheese, eggs, sugar, sour cream and vanilla in a large bowl with a mixer on high speed, until smooth. Pour mixture into a large saucepan and cook over medium/high heat, stirring often, for 8-10 minutes or until mixture begins to thicken. Remove from heat and prepare graham cracker crumbs.

2.    Combine the melted butter with graham cracker crumbs. Spoon 1T. of graham cracker crumbs into 6 ounce rocks glass, and top with 2 tablespoons of cheesecake filling. Spoon sliced strawberries and syrup on top of cheesecake filling, and then repeat the process. Top with a dollop of whipped cream.

3.    Refrigerate for 2-3 hours or overnight and then serve.

Our guests have loved these mini desserts after our breakfast so I thought I would share them with you. As always if you would like the above dessert during your next visit to our Smoky Mountain bed and breakfast let me know a couple of days before your arrival and your wish will come true!

HART Theater presents "Hay Fever", Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast

“Hay Fever” will be playing weekends at HART Theatre  near our Waynesville, NC bed and breakfast. This is one of modern theaters greatest comedies by Noel Coward.

Here is a little synopsis of "Hay Fever" to entice you to see the play. The audience is invited to spend a weekend in the country with the self-absorbed, dysfunctional Bliss family. On this particular weekend each family member has invited an unsuspecting romantic prospect without informing the others. When the rain traps the family and their guests indoors, the situation cannot remain unchaotic. The family's outrageous antics alternately infuriate and astound their unfortunate weekend guests.  You will love your family after watching this family!

Waynesville Restaurant Near Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast

Our Waynesville NC bed and breakfast is located in a small mountain town where we are fortunate to have amazing restaurants. There has been a new addition to the lineup...foodies take note!  Frogs Leap Public House with Chef Kaighn and Toni Raymond has taken Waynesville by storm. You can barely get a reservation at the place. The major emphasis is a farm to table restaurant focused on local, sustainable, natural and organic products prepared in modern regional dishes. This is their community commitment to partner with local artisans and family owned farms to help support and preserve Western North Carolina. This helps to strengthen our local economy by keeping your food dollars close to home.

The menu changes every few days because it is a seasonal menu. Everything is local, sustainable, natural and organic, Chef Raymond prides himself on that. Just take a look at their mission statement all done through their logo.

One can describe the food as southern food with local flair, innovative, southern fusion, southern comfort foods with upscale flavors... I say absolutely out of this world!

The ambiance of FLPH  is like a country pub setting. There are some different choices for seating. Of course there is table seating but they also offer 2 great bar areas. One in front of the open kitchen where you are front row and center to watch over the operation and a cozy bar area up front. Many of our guests have enjoyed the open kitchen seating because everyone behind the bar interact with you.You do not need reservations for the bar seating. The service is great, the staff can't do enough for you. Everyone is happy!

Our guests have been going back 2,3 nights in a row. Dana Mac from Wilmington said that "I quite possibly just ate the best meal of my lifetime". Another guest stated that the food tasted like they were in New York City, and another said"I've never had food like that before". Ron and I couldn't be more proud to have this quality in Waynesville.

When you come to stay with us at our North Carolina bed and breakfast let me know when you would like to go to FLPH. We will call ahead and make sure that you get a reservation at this wonderful place. You will not want to miss this opportunity!
