Fall Foliage From Above At Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast

Our bed and breakfast in Waynesville, NC has received so many calls for a package we offered last year that we decided to repeat our "Fall Foliage From Above" program. Ron and I  have put together some very creative ways to experience the autumn colors of brilliant reds to glowing yellows from above without all the traffic.
Imagine flying through the forest during this colorful season using the zip-line canopy tours. Soar 200 feet above the forest floor! Navitat Canopy Adventures has 10 ziplines, 2 sky bridges, 2 rappelling experiences, and 3 short hikes - a fully-guided, active-participation tour. Along with the thrills, learn about the Blue Ridge Mountains and the forests of Southern Appalachia on this 3 to 3.5 hour adventure.

Can you think of anything more romantic than to take a hot air balloon ride at sunrise over the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains in October? Asheville Hot Air Balloons has been in the western North Carolina area for over 27 years and they're the company we go to for this venue.

We can also set up a helicopter ride over waterfalls  or even a rock climbing experience for beginners as well as advanced. The choices are endless.

All of this can be yours. Rates: add $180-$590 to room of choice for two. Give us a call at 1-828-452-3089 or email us at info@andonreidinn.com and we will do all the legwork for you. This is a great way to see the mountains of western NC for your North Carolina romantic getaway during the fall foliage season without the crowds.

Fall Foliage Report 2011 From Andon-Reid Inn Bed and Breakfast

The Fall Foliage report for 2011 has now officially started. It's only the middle of September and we are already getting the question of the day "when is the peak color?"

No matter when you plan an autumn visit at the end of September, in October or early November, you can take a short drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Pisgah National Forest and the Great Smoky Mountains to find the best color. We have tours and maps all ready for you.

By late September and early October you will be able to get glimpses of beautiful color in the higher elevations of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Smokies.

An early frost speeds up the show and warm weather prolongs it.The color predictors are anticipating a fall with high color. Warm, sunny days in September with cool nights make for good color.

During October weekends our Waynesville, NC bed and breakfast tends to fill up far in advance; however, there are usually some rooms available during the week on Sunday through Thursday. We hope you will consider visiting our Smoky mountain bed and breakfast then. The stores, galleries and orchards are open and the fall colors are just as spectacular with less crowds.

North Carolina Mountain State Fair-Farm Fresh Fun!

“Farm Fresh Fun” is this year’s theme at the NC Mountain State Fair being held at the WNC Ag Center, Fletcher, NC., only 40 minutes away from our Waynesville NC bed and breakfast.

I love going to fairs...grilled corn, cotton candy, all the exhibitions to look at and the competitions such as quilting, baking, wood carving, photography and more. Then of course you have the agriculture side of the fair. There are competitions between cattle, goats, poultry, sheep, horses and llama. Here is the link to the event schedule for that. The NC Mountain State Fair celebrates the people, agriculture, art and tradition throughout our region.

This is a great way to see what our mountain community is all about. There is entertainment everday with  music, acrobats, magic and comedy. Check here for the schedule. All in all it's great fun for everyone and then come back to our Smoky Mountain bed and breakfast, take off your shoes, settle in one of our oversized chairs with a good book and relax for the evening.
